ABOUT BRITANNIA BAY:

Britannia Bay is a small town in the West Coast District Municipality in the Western Cape province of South Africa, approximately 141 kilometres (88 mi) from Cape Town. The village takes its name from a British East Indiaman ship which was badly damaged by a reef in the bay. Rediscovered in January 1998, the wreck of the Britannia has been placed under the supervision of the Council for National Monuments. In June 2020, a well-preserved giant squid washed up on a nearby beach

ABOUT ST HELENA BAY:

Looking over St. Helena Bay lies one of the few untouched areas in the heart of the South African West Coast, Cape St Martin Private Nature reserve. It is situated in such a way that it is the only place on the West Coast where you can watch the sun rise over the sea and when the sun sets, it feels as if you become one with nature. It is described as "calm and tranquil" as quoted from the Portuguese explorer, Vasco da Gama.

The region of Saint Helena Bay is sub-divided into various suburbs, namely (from east to west): Laingville, West Point, Steenberg's Cove, Hannasbaai, Britannica Heights, Harbour Lights, Sandy Point, Blueberry Hill, Columbine, Mid-West and it incorporates the neighbouring towns of Stompneusbaai and Britannia Bay. It includes a total of eighteen smaller bays.  Historically, Saint Helena Bay is the location where Vasco da Gama, first set foot in South Africa. The date of this event was recorded as 7 November, 1497.

ABOUT THE WEST COAST:

The West Coast region is part of the Western Cape Province of South Africa.  It is renowned for its 16 Mile Beach at Yzerfontein, the popular West Coast National Park and Langebaan Lagoon, while its inland attractions such as satirist Pieter-Dirk Uys “Evita’s Perron” at Darling and the spectacular Cedarberg. The coastal route from Cape Town to Lambert’s Bay includes 16 Mile Beach at Yzerfontein, the stunning West Coast National Park, Langebaan Lagoon and the charming seaside towns of Velddrif and Paternoster where you can climb to the top of Cape Columbine lighthouse and watch the return of the multi-coloured fishing boats.
