It is an atoll located 42 km southeast of Ravahere, its closest neighbor, and 100 km southwest of Hao. It is also administratively attached to the commune of Hao, even if it is a private island. The atoll, oval, measures 13 km long by 8 km maximum width for a land area of 9 km 2. Its vast inland lagoon has an area of 67 km2, but does not have a pass linking it to the high sea. The underwater mountain on which the atoll rests is 4,355 m high, making it one of the highest seamount mountains in the archipelago. A private airport, owned by the pearl company, was established in 1993. The runway is 1,400 meters long, unpaved, traced on the east motu. It can be extended by an additional 400 m. The atoll is private, managed by an SCI (reduced acquisition costs) but is not closed to tourism, high-end in particular. It is also within the framework of the development of this exclusive, sustainable and tailor-made tourism that the atoll is put up for sale, with a turnkey development project. Nengo Nengo did not have a navigable pass, so a navigation channel was dug south of the airstrip. It is around this channel that the luxury hotel project was designed. A hundred bungalows will occupy the two large motu of the east. Totally isolated villas, on stilts and rock foundations, are applied in the northern center of the atoll, on the edge of a fully protected marine area. On the two motu of the north-east are planned bungalows on stilts, on the edge of the beaches famous for their pink sands. In their continuity, to the north, an 18-hole golf course will be integrated. This will be the first golf course on an atoll. The grass was already planned to be tested in Moorea as in Déva (New Caledonia). It resists spray and requires little water. Desalination will be installed near the photovoltaic plant to ensure drinking water needs for all residences. A science centre will be integrated on the southwestern part of the atoll. Its purpose will be to ensure the protection and monitoring of turtles, sacred totemic animal in Polynesia. Finally, on this pearl island, the cultured pearl of Tahiti will be in the spotlight of stays: introduction to transplantation, investment in production lines, remote monitoring of the evolution of its grafted oysters, participation in the harvest... Each owner will be able to invest in maritime pearl concessions, up to 500 m2. It is therefore more than a land acquisition, even if it is on a private island, but an investment in an economic development project, combining luxury and sustainable tourism. The lagoon of Nengo Nengo is of such purity that its water is reminiscent of that of a swimming pool.
